Read 343-365 in Don't Know Much About History 

 Today we will be looking at Don't Know Much About History and reading about the 1920s and the Great Depression.

Things to know by the end of the week:

Today we are going to look at the Great Depression.

1) Who were Sacco & Vanzetti?

2) What was the Harlem Renaissance and why was it important?

3) Discuss prohibition. What was it? Was it successful? What did it cause?

4) What was the Red Scare of the 1920s and how did it come about?

5) What was the Teapot Dome?

6) Why was Charles Lindbergh considered a hero? Do you agree or disagree?

7) Who or what was the "Bonus Army"?

8) How did Herbert Hoover fail?

9) What was the New Deal and the Hundred Days? Define the WPA?

10) Discuss FDR's court packing scheme? Why did it fail? Do you agree with FDR?

11) Who was Amelia Earhardt?

12) Define Land-Lease program and list the Fascists countries and leaders at end of the 30s?

3. What did small communities of homeless shacks and shelters become known as? 

4. What did Roosevelt's radio broadcast become known as? 

5. Why do you think the Great Depression was so severe and do you think the government's reaction was appropriate? Why or why not?
